Where to set Web Root Directory and Export Directory?

Location: Menu Bar > Tools > Options > Basic

 What is Website Root Directory?

Generally speaking, Website Root Directory for SliceMaker products is a file folder on your computers hard disk. You can select an existing file folder or create a new folder by clicking the first Select  button. Once you select a folder, everything created by SliceMaker products will be and should be saved to this folder or its sub-folder including webpages, CSS file, JS file, images, etc.

To be specific, Website Root Directory for SliceMaker products has two separate meanings:
If you want to use SliceMaker products to create a complete website which have many webpages, the folder you select can be understood as the website root directory, that is, every webpage and its related documents created by SliceMaker products will be and should be saved to this folder or its sub-folder. In other words, the folder actually is the storage folder for your local website. After you have finished creating website with SliceMaker products, you can simply upload all the documents within the folder to a remote web server for viewing on the web. (View how to upload your local website or webpage to a remote web server >>)

If you just want to use SliceMaker products to create a webpage, the folder you select can be understood as the storage folder where you will just save the created webpage and its related documents.

Example of Setting Website Root Directory

 What is Export Directory?

For SliceMaker products, Export Directory means to which file folder you want to save the webpage created by SliceMaker products.

Note: the export directory must be under the website root directory youve set.

By default, the Export Directory is the same as Website Root Directory, that is, you will save the created webpage to the website root directory by default. However, there are some differences between these two settings. For example, when we want to save the created webpage to the subdirectory under the website root directory, we should change the default setting of Export Directory, such as follow:

By Default, the Export Directory is the same as Website Root Directory

You may need to change it when you want to save the created webpage to the subdirectory under the website root directory.
